What to do in Lectoure?

Lectoure is around a fifteen-minute drive from Les Chambres d’Athéla. Once the seat of the Counts of Armagnac, it is now a thermal spa town and a stop on the Camino de Santiago. It is easy to explore in a few hours, depending on what takes your fancy.

Wander through the historic centre

Saint-Gervais-Saint-Protais Cathedral, Rue Nationale, the little streets of the old town, the ramparts and their views across the countryside towards the Pyrenees are all easily explored on foot.

Browse the Village des Brocanteurs

Housed in the former hospital, on the site of the old castle of the Counts of Armagnac, the Village des Brocanteurs brings together around thirty antique and second-hand dealers. This historic building is filled with furniture, antiques, curiosities and works of art.

Market and local produce

On Friday mornings, the market brings the heart of the town to life. On Monday afternoons, the Locabios market also brings together local and organic producers.

Thermal baths, pastel and culture

The Thermes de Lectoure, housed in the former Hôtel Goulard, are a lovely place to spend a few relaxing hours without necessarily booking a course of spa treatments.

Lectoure is also associated with Bleu de Lectoure, born from the rediscovery of the traditional pastel dye, and has a particularly lively cultural scene, notably at the Centre d’art et de photographie.

Take your time

Lectoure is also a town for simply wandering: stop at a café terrace, pop into a shop or gallery and let your stroll last a little longer than planned.
