The GR65 in the Gers: stop in Castet-Arrouy
Between Auvillar and Lectoure, Castet-Arrouy is a convenient place to break your journey on the GR65. A waymarked alternative route passes directly in front of Les Chambres d’Athéla.
Breaking the journey between Auvillar and Lectoure
The great majority of our guests arrive here while walking the Camino de Santiago.
The stage between Auvillar and Lectoure is around 33 km. Castet-Arrouy is approximately 22 km from Auvillar.
An alternative route passes right by the house
A waymarked alternative route of the GR65 has passed directly in front of Les Chambres d’Athéla since summer 2026.
It was introduced while work was being carried out on the usual route and is marked with the GR’s red-and-white waymarks.
According to several local sources, this path follows an old traditional route. It is slightly longer and includes more walking on roads than the usual route.
You can therefore follow this alternative route to pass directly in front of the house, or stay on the usual GR65, which passes about 800 metres away.
In Castet-Arrouy
Drinking water and toilets are available at the mairie in Castet-Arrouy. The village also has a restaurant, La Plancha, open for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday. Booking is recommended.
